Cathodic Protection: What is Cathodic Protection, and Why Is It Needed?

  • Underground propane tanks require protection from corrosion to ensure longevity and functionality.
  • Cathodic protection is utilized to safeguard underground steel propane tanks and piping from electrolysis-induced corrosion.
  • Electrolysis, a natural process in the ground, poses the greatest risk to underground tanks by causing metal corrosion over time.
  • To counteract electrolysis, sacrificial anode bags are attached to the tank and placed in the hole with the tank before backfilling, altering the electrical currents in the earth.
  • Tevis Energy offers System Inspection Plans to maintain the condition of your propane tank and ensure compliance with government regulations.
  • All tank services are performed by certified Tevis Energy technicians, prioritizing your safety, satisfaction, and trust.
